Google Announced 5G Pixel Phone With Remote Control
Google has unveiled new hardware products at a virtual event called ‘Launch Night In’.
These contain the 5G Pixel smartphones, a new Chromecast with remote control and the Nest Audio smart speaker.
The Pixel 4a 5G was first unveiled a month ago when Google released the affordable 4a model.
The 5G provides an upgraded version with the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip, Cinematic Pan for video shoots, a bigger 6.2-inch FHD+ display, and an extra 16MP ultra-wide camera sensor..
The Pixel 5 also has a bit more for a price tag of $700 as compared to $500 for the Pixel 4a 5G.
The Pixel 5 has the same processor and 5G, and also has 8 GB RAM with a bigger 4,080 mAh battery, reverse and wireless charging, and an enhanced display with 90 Hz refresh rate.
Google also featured a preview of the new Hold for Me function on the phones.
It is available first in the US.
Hold for Me permits Google Assistant to wait on the line when users call a toll-free number and are put on hold.
The Assistant will notify the caller when someone is on the line and when ready to talk.
The 4a 5G Pixel will also be available in Japan on 15 October and also in eight other countries starting in November.
The Pixel 5 will be available in eight countries starting 15 October and in Canada and US from 29th October.
Chromecast with Google TV, voice remote
The new Chromecast features dedicated buttons on the remote for Amazon Prime and Netflix videos.
It will be promoted on YouTube TV and other OTT subscriptions in the US.
It is available in the US for $50, with a choice of three colours.
Pre-orders have started in Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Ireland, Spain, Italy, and the UK, where it will be available from 15 October.
Nest for audio lovers
The Nest Audio is a new compact smart speaker for music lovers.
It is available in a choice of five colours, with 19mm tweeter for clear vocals and consistent high frequency coverage and a 75mm mid-woofer to support the bass.
Nest Audio is available online at the Google Store for $100 and other retailers in Canada, US, and India starting 05 October. It will launch in retail stores including Target, Best Buy and more in 21 countries starting 15 October.
