Telecoms gear maker Nokia on Wednesday said it has bagged a 5G RAN deal from Finnish telecom operator Elisa.
Under this deal, Nokia will supply its AirScale 5G RAN portfolio of products to enable Elisa in digitizing Finland, as said by Nokia. .
The 5G Radio
The AirScale 5G Radio portfolio will help further Elisa offer enhanced mobile connectivity, as well as additional use cases such as Ultra-Reliable Low Latency services and Massive IoT , Nokia said.
Particularly, the deal will pay attention to mobile network technology migration to make sure that the radios support both 4G and 5G subscribers across the country, Nokia said.
Finland’s Elisa is planning to phase out its 3G network by 2023 that supports its migration towards 5G services.
This project will also focus on mobile network technology migration so that new radios will serve both 5G and 4G subscribers across the country.
Elisa plans to decommission its 3G network by 2023 to support its move to 5G services.

“With more than 150 commercial engagements underway, its 5G solutions, software and services allow Nokia customers to take advantage of the promise of this next generation of network technology,” Nokia said.
